1. Overview

SQL Practice ("we", "us", "the site") is a browser-based SQL playground and formatter. This policy explains what information is and isn't collected when you use the site, and how third-party services such as advertising and analytics providers may use cookies if and when we enable them.

2. How the SQL Playground handles your data

The query editor, sample database, and query results are powered entirely by JavaScript running inside your own browser tab. The SQL you write, the results you see, and the sample data you modify are never transmitted to, processed by, or stored on any server we operate. Closing or refreshing the tab clears the in-memory database back to its original state.

3. Local storage

To remember your light/dark theme preference and your recent query history between visits, the site uses your browser's localStorage. This data is stored only on your own device, is never sent to us, and can be cleared at any time from the Playground's History panel or from your browser's site settings.

4. Cookies and advertising

We may display advertisements served by Google AdSense and similar third-party ad networks to help cover the cost of running this site. These third parties may use cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

5. Analytics

We may use a privacy-conscious analytics service (such as Google Analytics or an equivalent) to understand aggregate traffic patterns — for example, which pages are visited and roughly how much traffic the site receives. Any such analytics data is aggregated and is not linked to the content of the SQL queries you write, which, as noted above, never leave your browser.

6. Third-party services

This site loads a small number of third-party resources needed for it to function:

• Google Fonts — used to load the Inter and JetBrains Mono typefaces.
• Tailwind CSS (CDN) and AlaSQL (CDN) — JavaScript libraries used to render the interface and run SQL queries locally in your browser.
• Google AdSense (when enabled) — serves advertisements as described in Section 4.

Loading these resources may cause your browser to make requests to the respective providers' servers, which is standard behavior for any website using a CDN or web font.

7. Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect a new advertising or analytics integration. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
